It looks like Dropbox has just made a good decision by integrating its mobile apps with Microsoft Office.

The cloud storage company updated its iOS and Android apps with the new Microsoft Office support that allows Dropbox users users to open documents, spreadsheets or presentation slides stored in their Dropbox accounts and edit them with Office apps. Those who don’t have the Office apps already installed will be prompted to download the relevant app. Changes made in the Office apps will automatically be synchronised and saved to your Dropbox account.

This update is the result of a recently announced partnership between the two companies and is part of Microsoft’s broader push to make it easier for Office users to create, edit and collaborate on documents, especially on mobile.

Microsoft released Dropbox integration to its suite of Office updates earlier this month in a bigger update that also made the Office mobile apps free on iOS and Android. We could expect that the support for Microsoft Office will also available to Dropbox on the web with integration with Office Online, yet it won’t happen until 2015, according to the companies.
