Facebook is reportedly working on a new app designed to encourage private content sharing.
This latest report states that the current code name for the app is “Moments”. It will give Facebook users a grid-style interface from which to share private moments with friends and family. The main reason behind this app is (apparently) to assist Facebook users who want to share private content with their relatives, who have been confused with Facebook’s complex privacy settings.
It remains unclear whether the app will ever actually be released or not, especially when we take a look at several past internal Facebook experiments that never became real products.
However, if the app will be released someday, it would signify that Facebook is striving to win back the trust of some users who have been discouraged by the social media site’s complex and changeable privacy settings and News Feed.
On the other hand, a Facebook spokesperson stated the company’s standard response to not providing comment on rumors or speculation.
