Since its announcement on iPhone 6 series and Apple Watch, Apple silently released its Apple TV with new software that includes the latest iOS 8-like design and Beats Music.

For Beats Music only, Apple has paid $3 billion, which includes the earbuds and headphone technology as well as the still relatively new Beats Music subscription service. Now, the software update has changed, giving Beats Music a sweet spot, right below “Music”, in the Apple TV interface.

For those who haven’t signed up before, a free two-week trial through Apple TV is available. Members just have to pay $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year for unlimited streaming music. In addition to singles and albums, Beats offers an entire curated music selection, with some lists coming from the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Common, Ellen DeGeneres and Peyton Manning.

Moreover, Apple also added more unique features including Family Share, which allows up to six family members (each of whom can have their own Apple ID) to share content, as long as it’s all purchased with the same credit card. However, to use this feature, you need to sign into an iCloud account. Once you do, you can simply add new Apple IDs as Family Share members.

The new ‘Ask to Buy’ feature allows parents to add purchase permission controls. The requests show up in iOS notifications (on the iOS 8 iPhone or iPad), where parents can approve or deny Apple TV content purchases. The update is live, but once you start, it can take a while to finish.
