One of the most important thing in social media advertising is to keep your focus on the most popular social media. By focusing on the most used social media, the chance of getting new prospects and fans are bigger. Today, The Website Marketing Group team has released another statistic on the most used social media throughout Australia. Please note that all stats represent here is based on the number of Unique Australian Visitors to the site over the August (except for Facebook, which is the number of active monthly users as reported by Facebook themselves).

1. Facebook – 12,000,000 monthly Australian users

2. YouTube – 11,500,000 UAVs

3. WordPress.com – 3,700,000

4. LinkedIn – 3,600,000

5. Tumblr – 3,500,000

6. Blogspot – 3,200,000

7. Twitter – 2,167,849 Active Australian Users

8. Instagram – 1,469,000 Active Australian Users

9. Flickr – 840,000

10. TripAdvisor – 820,000

11. Pinterest – 550,000

12. MySpace – 250,000

13. Yelp – 240,000

14. Reddit – 175,000

15. Google Plus – approximately 100,000

16. StumbleUpon – 75,000

17. Foursquare – 48,000

18. Digg – 33,000

19. Delicious – 25,000

Important Points to Note:

  • Leading sites like WordPress, Tumblr, Blogspot and LinkedIn are attracting new users on a daily basis. Their continuous growth is highly expected by many online marketers.
  • Facebook for the third time have released specific stats for Australia. I will be good if Twitter would do the same (Twitter is yet to release Australian specific stats and have told me they do not track users by region).
